Unanticipated environmental changes in the form of international competition, amazing break-through in technology, cultural diversity, group dynamism, unwholesome competition, the emergence of knowledge and empowered workforce, are applying

pressure on leaders to find advanced ways for managing the future of their organizations.  In line with this, the Government has addressed the issue of service delivery to the citizens by enhancing and accelerating reform initiatives in the public service since 2003. Whereas there are identifiable gains, the success in managing modern day complex organizations demands that there emerges a crop of empowered leaders that can navigate extraordinary changes in the environment of dynamic public affairs. Further, the Constitution of Kenya 2010 has radically redefined governance at national and county levels demanding changes in leadership approaches. This has resulted in the need to review the leadership capacity building and accountability framework

 Strategic leadership is required at all levels to spearhead change efforts, sustain organizational reforms and improve performance. Consequently, the Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) was designed to enhance strategic thinking, leadership skills and competencies, performance management, and capabilities in leading organizational change initiatives. However, with increased changes in the work environment there has emerged a need to review the SLDP curriculum and training
